Amherstburg is one of the oldest towns in the province of Ontario. It has century old buildings and a beautiful waterfront setting which makes this town a perfect getaway. The town has historic sites, parks, guaint shops, beautiful landscapes and a great view of the water.

Amherstburg also contains 12 area wineries; you can stroll down the vineyards, enjoy the lake breeze and also enjoy some of the areas local produce.

The town of Amherstburg was permanently established as a British Military Fort in 1796. This town is known as the town that freed slaves entering Canada during the days of the Underground Railroad.
